PROJECT 1
Barnes Family Project
The Barnes family has had a sloped area along the side of their home since they first moved in. Over the years, they became close friends with their next-door neighbors and wanted to find a solution that would not only stabilize the erosion-prone slope but also create an easy and safe way to walk between both homes. That’s where these beautiful Rosetta steps come in.
The new steps provide both structure and accessibility while enhancing the overall look of the space. The Barnes family also plans to plant a variety of flowers behind the wall, which will add even more character and color to the area. We can’t wait to see everything come together this spring.
PROJECT 2
Crew Family Project
The Crew family recently broke ground on their brand-new home near the lake. As part of the grading plan, a large retaining wall was required behind the driveway to manage the significant slope on the property. With a 12 ft elevation change from top to bottom, this wall plays a critical role in stabilizing the area.
Not only does it address the erosion concerns created during construction, but it also provides long-term structural support for the driveway, ensuring durability and stability for years to come.
PROJECT 3
Dunleavy Family Project
The Dunleavy family came to us with major erosion issues in their backyard. Over the years, water had been flooding their patio, and they were losing several feet of soil due to the slope behind their home. They needed a long-term solution that would not only control the drainage but also create a functional space their family could enjoy.
We developed a plan and got to work installing a 4 ft Keystone block retaining wall with integrated steps, creating a usable, level area for their kids to play. To properly manage the water flow, we added an 80 ft dry creek bed to redirect runoff away from the patio, along with fresh sod to restore the yard. We also built a raised garden bed to match the wall and installed a curved retaining wall near the patio to prevent any future water intrusion. The final step was carefully grading the entire area to ensure proper drainage. Now the Dunleavy family has an erosion-free backyard and a beautiful, functional space to spend time together.
PROJECT 4
Holmer Family Project
The Holmer family came to us with a blank slate after completing their new home just outside of historic Ball Ground. They wanted features that would complement the gray veneer on the house while also providing a solution for the steep slope created during lot grading.
We recommended Rosetta Kodah block for its natural stone appearance and nearly perfect color match to the home’s exterior. The project included a curved retaining wall measuring 4 ft tall and 45 ft long, designed to address the significant drop-off in the front yard while enhancing the overall curb appeal. We also built a custom raised A/C wall using the same block to ensure a cohesive look throughout the property.
To properly manage drainage, we installed two 80 ft dry creek beds to collect and redirect runoff. This project is one of our favorite transformations at Land Wise, combining structural integrity, drainage solutions, and clean design to create a beautiful and functional outdoor space.
PROJECT 5
Ward Family Project
The Ward family came to us with an old retaining wall that was beginning to fail due to improper backfill, causing it to lean and push forward over time. They were ready for a long-term solution that would not only fix the structural issue but also enhance the look of their yard.
After reviewing several color samples together, they chose an awesome option called Smoky Blend. The finished project included a 4 ft tall by 55 ft long retaining wall built with proper base preparation and reinforced backfill to ensure lasting stability. The result is a wall with clean lines, strong structural integrity, and a fresh updated look that will stand the test of time.
